Seacoast New England weddings are some of my favorites to photograph. Suzy and Jimmy’s wedding was no exception! Their wedding at the Elk’s Club in Portsmouth, NH is a hidden gem in New Hampshire with gorgeous views and an outdoor ceremony space right along the water. Suzy and Jimmy are the sweetest couple, and they planned such a fun summer wedding for their family and friends!
Getting Ready for the Wedding
When I arrive at the hotel, I always start by taking some detail shots and getting-ready photos of the bride and her bridesmaids. They are always some of my favorite moments of the wedding day because excitement and anticipation fill the air. Right away I was blown away by Suzy’s gorgeous and elegant dress and details! Her ballgown was strapless with a sweetheart neckline. The top was designed with beautiful beading on the top and a tiered organza skirt on the bottom. She added a beautiful pearl necklace and she looked absolutely stunning! For this summer wedding, they chose a variety of blues for their color pallet, so Suzy’s light blue heels with a little bit of sparkle were perfect! The blue nautical theme was carried throughout the bridesmaid dresses, flowers, and decor and it all tied together perfectly.
You will see we had a great time getting ready for the wedding! The girls were super close and didn’t stop laughing the entire time! Suzy and her cousin were laughing hysterically trying to get on Suzy’s shoes while she laid on the bed! While we had a great time, there were also some emotional and touching moments. Once everyone was ready the bride did a first look with her bridesmaids, mom, and grandfather. Their faces say it all! They all looked so happy for her and were ready to see her and Jimmy get married. Suzy and her grandfather have a very special connection, so she gave him a personalized handkerchief as a gift for walking her down the aisle and being such an important part of her life.
Summer New England Seacoast Wedding
Outside of the Elk’s Club in Portsmouth, NH there is a beautiful, flay grassy area perfect for an outdoor ceremony. They had set up all the chairs facing Sagamore Creek which provided a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. The bridal party all walked down the aisle and waited for Suzy and her Grandfather to meet Jimmy at the end. Suzy and Jimmy could not stop smiling from ear to ear! They were thrilled that their moment had finally arrived! They shared their own personal vows, exchanged wedding bands, did their unique handshake, and then it was sealed with a kiss! I loved capturing their faces as they walked back down the aisle as a married couple and their guests cheered, gave high fives, and hugged them!
It was time to celebrate! We spent some time by the water taking portraits with the couple, their bridal party, and their families. They then hosted a traditional and elegant reception inside the Portsmouth Elk’s Club, which was beautifully decorated with the nautical and seacoast theme. After introductions, the maid of honor and the best man gave wonderful speeches about the couple with lots of laughs and some touching moments. Everyone danced the night away and had a great time celebrating this wonderful couple! Congratulations to Suzy and Jimmy!
